Obituary notes for Eizabeth Lutley
Elizabeth (Glover) Lutley Dubble Smith was born in 1928 to Stanley and Eileen Glover of Burlington, Ontario, Canada.  Elizabeth, known to her many friends as Beth, was a passionate and accomplished pianist who inspired multitudes of students during her more than 50 years as a piano teacher. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Beth met her future husband, David H.M. Lutley, a dashing young engineer from Salisbury, England, who was working in Ontario for the English Electric Corporation. Shortly thereafter they were wed in 1952. Together, they raised three beloved children, moving to the New England area and settling in CT. They were both proud to later become naturalized U.S. citizens.  Beth became active in the Schubert Club of Stamford and along with David, inspired lifelong professional musical pursuits for all three children.  In Stamford, Beth joined the Seventh Day Adventist church whose principles and beliefs guided her the rest of her life as a devoted Christian.
David and Elizabeth then moved to Jefferson City, MO, and later settled in The Lebanon area of Pennsylvania.   Beth was active in both the Lebanon and Hamburg SDA churches, often serving as a pianist and organist for church services.  Upon David’s passing in 2000, Beth moved to Arbor Gate retirement community in Myerstown, PA.  Though she was to be widowed two more times, Beth found love and companionship there, with second husband Clarence Dubble and third husband Roland Brent Smith, Sr. along with their families.
In July of 2018, Beth moved to Grand Rapids, MI to be close to family and there she became an active member of the Grand Rapids Central SDA church. Living at both Heron Woods and American House- Jenison, she was grateful for the friends she made and the care she received at both facilities. Elizabeth was truly a people person that developed many close friendships throughout her life, and she will be remembered by many.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tom, and brother-in-law, John (Patricia) Lutley.  She is survived by her three children; Michael (Kathy), Pamela (George) and Geoffrey (Kate), her 10 grandchildren; Bryan, Ellen, Kevin (Holland), Christopher (Ashley), Allison (Ryan), Mara, Eric (Alexi), Kara (Chris), Sarah and Eric, great grandchildren; Louisa, Vincent, Aubrey, Annabelle, and nephews and niece; Bob and Jayne (Canada) and Richard (England), and their families.
A memorial visitation will be held, July 23 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at Memorial Alternatives, 2432 Fuller Ave, Grand Rapids, MI  49505.  Beth was a lifelong supporter of the education and welfare of children and donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the children’s organization of your choice or the Lebanonrecuemission.org (Lebanon, PA).
