Obituary notes for Clyde Arthur Dubble
Clyde A. Dubble, age 97, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at The Glen at Willow Valley in Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Miriam Weaver Dubble and the late June K. Roop Dubble. He was born in Fulton Township, son of the late Allen R. and Susan Kreider Dubble. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia, wife of James Walsh of Lancaster, 2 grandchildren: Eric, husband of Veronica Walsh of Asheville, North Carolina, Katie, wife of Ryan MacDonald of Lancaster, two great grandchildren: Wyatt and Hadley MacDonald, a sister, Emma Z. Dubble of Lancaster, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Dorothy Adsitt, Joel Dubble, and John Dubble. Clyde was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of The Brethren. He was a 75 year member of Washington Lodge post 156, a member of Lancaster Lodge and Perfection and Harrisburg Consistory, a very active member of The Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville where he served as Sky Pilot. He was also on the Quarryville Borough Council where he served as president for 10 years, and he served on the water and sewer committee. Clyde enjoyed spending time outdoors and boating and fishing with his family at the beach in Avalon, New Jersey. He was an avid walker and was proud to participate in exercise challenges at Willow Valley. He had a strong work ethic and had many jobs over the years, including being a farmer, working at Walter and Hassel Lumber Yard, The Atlantic Breeders and as a sales manager at Ray’s Appliance then later Martin Appliance, working until he was 86 years old. The most important part of his life was spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will take place from Mechanic Grove Church Of The Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Hwy Quarryville, PA 17566, on Saturday, June 10th at 2 p.m. with a time to greet the family from 1 p.m. until time of service. Pastor Rita Carter and Pastor Kevin Richardson will be officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Quarryville Cemetery prior to the service. June Kruger Dubble, formerly of Christiana, Pa., and Quarryville
June Kruger (Roop) Dubble, formerly of Christiana, Pa., and Quarryville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Arbor View at Willow Valley, Lancaster.
Born in West Nantmeal Township, Chester County, on Nov. 24, 1930, she was the oldest daughter of the late John G. and Mildred Wilhelm Kruger of Atglen and Christiana.
She graduated from Christiana High School and S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville, and was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County.
Surviving is her husband, Clyde A. Dubble of Willow Valley and formerly of Quarryville, with whom she celebrated 18 years of marriage.
June was an "Other Mother" to her sister, Mary Jane Kruger, who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold L. Roop, in 1980.
Surviving are three children, H. Michael Roop, husband of Joan Grumelli Roop of Christiana, Pa., John L. Roop of Strasburg, and Carole Anne Roop, wife of Robert Dorwart of Christiana, Pa.; a granddaughter, Rhiannon Roop DeLong, wife of Joe DeLong of Kirkwood; one great-granddaughter, Morgan E. DeLong, to whom she was a loving MeMa; a stepdaughter, Patricia Dubble Walsh, wife of James Walsh of Lancaster; a step-grandson, Eric Walsh, husband of Veronica Walsh of Wilmington, N.C.; and a step-granddaughter, Katie Walsh of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared M. Roop of Christiana, Pa., in 2000; a brother, John R. Kruger of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Marian Kruger Book and Milli Kruger Cipolloni; and 4-year-old Bette Kruger of Caines in Lancaster County.
She also is survived by several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Joe Cipolloni of Strasburg and Richard Book of Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Betty Henry of Christiana, Pa., Emma Dubble of Willow Valley; and a sister, Mary Jane Kruger of Strasburg.
June was a 63-year member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, Quarryville. During her membership she served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, Women's Association member and as a member of the choir.
She was a member of Eastern Star #347, Cochranville.
She worked at the Christian Laundry for many years, retiring in 1995.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and a friend to many.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, and counted cross-stitch.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 28, at Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville, with Pastor Douglas Hileman and the Rev. Dr. David Henry officiating.
Interment will follow in Quarryville Cemetery.
Viewings will be held at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, and again from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
