10 Jan 2008: Kermit G. Patches, 87, Lititz, passed away on January 8, 2008, at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Henry and Hilda Gibble Patches. Kermit and his wife, Beatrice O. Landis Patches, would have celebrated their 65th anniversary on January 16th. Kermit attended First Church of God, Lititz, and was a member of Warner Lambert Retiree Association. He worked for New Holland Machine, then at Howmet, Lancaster, and later at Warner Lambert in Lititz. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter Marlene Y., wife of Kenneth Garner, Neffsville; grandchildren Jeffrey L., husband of Mary Kay Garner, Lititz, Hope R. Garner, Lancaster; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Garner. He was preceded in death by sisters Erma Patches, June Shelly, and Anna Bross; and brothers Wayne and Henry Patches. Beatrice O. Patches, 89 of Lititz, passed away on April 12, 2012 at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Rudy and Ada Oberholtzer Landis, and the wife of the late Kermit Patches.

She was the owner of Bea's Beauty Shop in Lititz for 45 years, and was loved by all.

She is survived by a daughter, Marlene, wife of Kenneth Garner, Neffsville, grandchildren, Jeffrey, husband of Mary Kay Garner, Lititz; Hope Garner, Hallam; great granddaughter, Samantha Garner; brother, Richard Landis, Lititz; and sisters, Mildred, wife of Alvin Smoker, Intercourse; Ella Mae, wife of David Heintzelman, Pennsville, NJ; and Lorraine, wife of Roy Parmer, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Landis.

Bea's family would like to thank the United Zion Retirement Community for the care and compassion given to her.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home, 216 S. Broad St., Lititz. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, April 16th at 11:00 A.M. at United Zion Retirement Community Chapel, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, preceded by a visitation with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made in her memory to the United Zion Retirement Community Good Samaritan Fund.
