Notes for Conrad Derr
Civil War Vetern
Arriving in the United States ca. 1852, Conrad Derr married Rebecca Anna Maria Bausman and fathered Solomon A. (b. 08/26/55), Elizabeth K. (b. 03/18/57 - married Abel Royer), John Henry (b. 02/??/58 or 59), Samuel (b. 07/12/61), Christian (b. 07/18/63), Franklin (b. @1866), Conrad J. (b. 07/09/69), and James Monroe (b. 04/01/73). In 1860, he was a self professed cowboy (apparently meaning that he took care of cows and not the western image of that term) living with his family in Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 7" tall and had black hair and hazel eyes. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Lancaster February 15, 1865, as a private with Co. G, 195th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company January 31, 1866, at Washington DC. By 1870, he was living with his family in Cornwall Township, Lebanon County. There are reports that his full name may have been Georg Conrad Derr. [Biography provide by F.A.G. contributor Dennis Brandt]
