Obituary notes for Annabelle Spangler
Annabelle H. Eberly, 90, died peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2013, in the Glen at Willow Valley. Born in Mt. Zion, Lebanon County on February 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Jennie Spangler. Annabelle was married to Harold L. Eberly who passed away July 12, 2008 after 62 years of marriage.
She graduated from Lebanon Business College and was an executive secretary at the Peoples National Bank of Lebanon, before becoming a devoted wife and mother while her husband, Harold Eberly, served 22 years in the United States Navy.
Annabelle and Harold moved to Chester County from Adak, Alaska in 1964, and lived in Malvern where they formed many long, close friendships until moving to Willow Valley in 1995, where they made many more new friends.
In addition to raising her children, Annabelle loved spending time with her grandchildren, growing and arranging flowers, preserving vegetables from her husband's garden, traveling, cooking, sewing and playing bridge. She also enjoyed exercise and being outdoors - particularly near the water. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lancaster.
Annabelle is survived by: son, H. Timothy Eberly of Lititz, (Jodi); daughter, Bonnie Klingelhoeffer of Downingtown, (Karl); daughter, Jayne Ashenfelter, of Malvern (Richard); 4 grandchildren: Karl Klingelhoeffer IV, Kari Laine Klingelhoeffer-Carfagno, Richard Ashenfelter III, and Holli Ashenfelter; 2 brothers: Wilbur Spangler and Frederick Spangler. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Eberly, and sister, Kathleen Heberling.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3 at 11 AM in the Johnson Auditorium at Willow Valley, Manor North. Friends and family may also attend a viewing on January 3, from 9AM to 10AM at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster. Interment will be private at Arlington National Cemetery.
