2 Aug 1947: William J. Woomer, an assistant steward at the Lincoln Republican Club, for some time past, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at his home, 838 Willow Street. He was ill about three months, suffering from a complication of ailments, which had their origin in his service in the U.S. Army in the late war. He was 34 years of age. He was born and reared at Myerstown, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Woomer, reside there. He was a member of the American Legion and the Goodwill and Keystone Fire Companies, Myerstown; Lincoln Republican Club, Lebanon Aerie of Eagles and Lebanon Lodge of Moose. In addition to his parents, he leaves his wife, Irene (Morris) Woomer to whom he was married a year ago. [Lebanon Daily News]

5 Aug 1947: Military honors were conferred upon the remains of William J. Woomer, late of 838 Willow Street, a veteran of World War II, at services held this afternoon in the Rohland Parlors, Fifth and Cumberland Streets. Rev. Melvin G. Spongler, pastor of the Trinity United Brethern Church, officiated at the services, followed with interment in the Myerstown U. B. Church cemetery. Military services were conducted by members of the American Legion this city. Benjamin Krause commanded the firing squad. Bearers were: Mark Gerhart, Edward Reber, Thomas Morris, William Anspach, Norman Rowe and Frank Leffler. Rohlands had charge of arrangements. [Lebanon Daily News]
