Obituary notes for Samuel Ziegler (Spouse 1)
4 Dec 1970: Samuel Z. Balsbaugh, 805 S. Railroad St., Myerstown, died Thursday evening at the Burd-Rogers Memorial Home, Myerstown. He was 88. Born in Berks County, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Ziegler Balsbaugh. He was a retired employee of the former Dubble and Zinn Foundry in Myerstown. Balsbaugh was a member of the Myerstown Church of the Brethren, where he had maintained a 30-year perfect attendance record in the Sunday school. He also served as church custodian for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Leah Dubble Balsbaugh, and these children: Elsie, wife of Marvin Eberly of Schaefferstown; Miss Beulah Balsbaugh, Myerstown; Mrs. Caroline Firestine, Richland; Esther, wife of Bert Sadler, Center Valley; Marvin of Lebanon; LeRoy, Myerstown, and Ruth, wife of Kermit Oxenreider, Myerstown. A son Amos preceded him in death. Eighteen grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive, as well as four sisters, Mrs. Emma Fahnestock of Neffsville; Mrs. Hannah Brightbill of Bethel; Mabel, wife of Miles Brown of Richland, and Ada, wife of John Wolfe of Bethel, and a number of nieces and nephews.
