2 Jan 2008: Anna G. Bross, 76, Bethel, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, in ManorCare, Lebanon. She was born January 31, 1931, in South Lebanon Township, Lebanon County, a daughter of the late Henry W. and Hilda Gibble Patches. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at the South Lebanon School, working in the cafeteria. She was a member of Midway Church of the Brethren, Lebanon, where she sang in the church choir for 58 years. She also sang in a quartet with her husband, brother and sister-in-law and women's octet. She formulated visitations by church members to the elderly and members in need. She enjoyed cooking, baking and working in her flower bed at her residence. She is survived by her husband Elmer L. Bross of 55 years; son Burnell B. Bross, Bethel; brother Kermit, husband of Beatrice Patches, Lititz. She was preceded in death by sisters Erma Patches, June Wolgemuth Shelley; brothers Wayne Patches and Henry Patches. Elmer L. Bross, 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the Hershey Medical Center due to a massive stroke. He was the husband of the late Anna G. Patches Bross.
He was born in Bethel Township, Berks County, a son of the late Samuel and Mary Demmy Bross. He was a self-employed farmer all his life. Elmer was a member of the Midway Church of the Brethren, Lebanon where he served as an Adult Sunday School teacher for many years and was involved with numerous church committees. He served on the Bethel Township Planning Commission for 17 years from 1972–1989 and the Bethel Township Zoning Hearing Board for 30 years from 1977–2007.
Elmer is survived by a son, Burnell B. Bross; sisters, Ruth Bohrer of Boise, ID; Fay Peterson and husband Kenneth of Bethel; Lois Reinhard and husband Gerhard of Bethel; Carol Bindel and husband Bernard of Forest Hill, MD. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Bross, Mildred Bomberger, Lydia Gibble, Sara Hess; brothers, Levi Bross, Harlan Bross, Herman Bross, Carl Bross.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Midway Church of the Brethren, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM, both at the church.
